Our first Discussion Panel selfie!
In the healthcare industry, only 40% of them are people of color, 16% of them being black. Because of this underrepresentation of black healthcare professionals, our club will strive to provide high school students with valuable information needed to obtain knowledge concerning the healthcare field and health science exposure. Our goal as a club is to bring that percentage up and make sure that there are more people of color in these growing healthcare fields so that we can increase positive patient outcomes in the future. This club will feature dissections, discussions on current events, participation with other health organizations making a difference in society, and talks with public health professionals. We hope that this club will help MECPS students make informed decisions about their careers in health care which will result in a greater increase in black healthcare professionals, which will, in the long, run help the overall doctor-patient relationship.Â
